He’s probably been frustrated with the company since Scalebound, this was only a matter of time. Everyone knows Kamiya isn’t exactly shy about sharing his opinions so I bet he’s been butting heads with people nonstop. Hope he pulls a Kojima and gets some funding to do his own thing.

Oh wow Scalebound, I was so excited for that game. Wish he was able to finish that as he seemed to be very passionate towards it. I heard MS was extremely pissed with the development process as well.

I feel like the key word here is resignation. Platinum has changed from its early days and so has the quality of its output (Babylon’s Fall; Astral Chain, which I loved everything about but the gameplay). It is possible that because of the capital injection/investment by Tencent, Kamiya doesn’t have the same creative freedom/pull to make the games he wants anymore.

Unless he speaks up we will never know, and I doubt he will. Can’t wait to see what’s next for him tho.

Off-topic, but with Astral Chain my biggest gripe was that the missions were soooo long with no way to save in the middle of one so I could pick it up later q-q

I get the feeling that whatever he’s been working on since the last thing that got canceled, got canceled.

That or tenacent offered him a dump truck of money to do something, that’s not unheard of

Man’s probably been on a downward spiral ever since he lost the ability to block people on Twitter.

Loved his games in the past, but I don’t think he’s made anything good in a while, and I’m curious to know if there’s any other studio willing to take in such a diva of a game developer. Wish him the best of luck.

He’s a diva to the public, but I’m curious how he is to work with professionally. I think the guy’s actually very rogueishly charming in his online persona. He just hasn’t plain directed anything in a while, mostly just supervising direction, but he’s still been involved in good stuff with regards to Bayonetta 3 or Astral Chain.

Still, though, it’s been a while, but I think he has a very solid foundation of ideology for his direction in games, I’d trust him to direct something else, but maybe he’s not interested in that anymore.
