I watch probably an unhealthy amount of TV but I wanted to highlight a couple of shows that I think are unlikely to be brought up on Lemmy:

    • First is Craig of the Creek, which is a charming kid’s cartoon about a bunch of kids just having fun in the creek. While the show is definitively for kids, I would say the comedy is very sharp and can be enjoyed by all ages. In later seasons, you can also tell the animators are feeling a bit more confident and you get a lot of physical gags from the animation. Comedy aside, I really enjoy when the show plays with the concept of the unreliable narrator, and you get to see the show as the characters imagine (as opposed to how you know it is happening in the “real” world). Moments like that help the show maintain an almost magical feeling despite its grounded setting.
    • Second is Mrs. Davis. I am not fully caught up on the show, so if you watch, please do not spoil it. This show is a dark comedy set in an alternate 2023 where society is largely run by a single AI known in the US as “Mrs. Davis.” The show plays a lot with the concept of religion and contrasts it with how people interact with technology in a very interesting way (to me, at least). The show is very surreal, often leaning hard into comedy, but with an introspective heart.
    • Third, I wanted to highlight the iCarly reboot. This is a show I was initially hate-watching with my partner who had more of a connection with the original than I did. The show really found its footing in season 2, though, and may be the strongest TV reboot I’ve seen to date. The humor is consistently strong, and while it is not going to win any awards, I rarely leave disappointed. I would recommend this show to anyone who was a fan of the original, or is just looking for a solid sitcom to watch
    • Fourth is Sherman’s Showcase on IFC. Sherman’s Showcase is a sketch comedy show which manages to crack me up with every sketch, despite being a parody of Soul-Train (which I have never seen). A perfect blend of humor, music, and surrealism, I cannot recommend this show enough.
    • Fifth is Abbott Elementary. I’m not even sure if I should include this one, as I think it is popular enough that you’ve probably already heard of it; but it is such a strong show, I wanted to highlight it anyways. Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary comedy in The same vein as The Office or Parks and Rec, but focusing on a small public school in Philadelphia. The show is written and created by one of the stars (Quinta Brunson), but every character is fully fleshed out and hilarious in their own way. Abbott Elementary has a powerhouse cast, and is a must-see for any sitcom fans
