    In Toronto, you can kill a cyclist and get nothing at all.

    We had a driver kill a rental e-scooter rider when they failed to look both ways when making a right-hand turn. The consequence? Rental e-scooters aren’t allowed in that area anymore… no punishment for the driver.

    Sadly, not a surprise.

    Somewhat recently, there was a drunk driver who hit and killed a cyclist and fled the scene and got 20 months. According to this, that’s at the upper end of what state law allows.

    The article says the driver even left the scene of the crime, but the charges for that were dropped
