In the interest of shameful gossip, i will theoretically consider this as possible. As a complete outsider who has no actual knowledge of the people involved, I can at most guess that Renner’s accident may have left deep mental trauma that could have changed his behaviour. Also, I can’t recall ever hearing of this director before, so I can see why this would be perceived as a dirty shot to fame on her part.

All in all, on a superficial level, both sides have their own merits and i have solved nothing by making this comment. But I felt like writing it for no reason and that’s that.
