'm amazed I haven’t heard his channel mentioned in this subreddit before. He’s a Canadian historian on Islamic history & a progressive Sunni muslim.
There’s no dawah morality police nonsense & he respects the intelligence of his audience. He lines up really well with many of the beliefs of people in this sub tbh.
Ex. he doesn’t use hadiths as historical sources (even though he follows many of them), his history is secular meaning he’s able to separate Muhammad the historical figure from Muhammad the religious figure, he’s willing to talk about taboo topics like LGBTO treatment in Islamic societies & he’s not preachy.
