Hello. Like many of you I am here from Reddit. A very old and not well known feature of Reddit was to hide posts that you had downvoted. I was a fan of this feature, and it’s not available in Lemmy.

Why is this great ?

This is a way to get a fresh view of your homepage. If you are infuriated because one of your favourite subreddit has too many posts about one subject, just downvote posts and forget about them.

Do you think that this could be easily implemented?

A hide feature is pretty standard, but I disagree with the downvote encouragement implementation. A few people “hiding” annoying posts can quickly destroy the quality of highly ranked posts on small channels.

I mean, it’s a feature available on Reddit as an option. It can be an option too, disabled by default.

We could debate, but I think that on the contrary, it’s what can keeps people without agendas in communities instead of quiting them. I keep curating the communities I like by downvoting content that should not be in these communities, and forget about it. If one post is controversial, I don’t downvote it since the comments are interesting and I don’t want it to be hidden.

I didn’t realize Reddit had that option.

Thanks for being a friendly internet person.
