I will be returning in my home city end July, in Athens, and I know it will be empty, very few left (Apart from the tourists). Edit: We also get no traffic and evenings are quite.

How is your city/town in the summer? traffic? Things you do? or events?

Green. They don’t mow most of the green and put up a sign: no, we are not lazy, no it’s not forgotten, we just give bees, butterflies etc the chance to live. (Sweden)

Hej, if you go a thousand km south, sadly this isn’t possible. It is mandatory to cut the grass otherwise it will catch fire (yeah, for real… summer is too hot here :( )

We go from 50k full time residents to 350k for 8 weeks or so starting in July.

It’s nuts. Hot. Fucking people everywhere…but I don’t drive (bike/walk everywhere) so I get around great when the roads are packed…we go to the beach almost every day and are running our ass off at night in the restaurant. Lots of friends in town from other cities/countries…too much to do and no time.

    and then…

…it’s over, and we go back to ‘normal’…steady work, more time to hang out with our friends in the restaurant, more time to make sure everything is great, and not just grinding out food for tourists.

Similar feeling here. I don’t live in a very touristy neighborhood, but a lot of areas are definitely overwhelmed with tourists.

Local people usually go away for a few weeks during summer.
