That’s not a sustainable strategy - at one point or the other, the chaos becomes organised against you. Just look at the utterly unassailable position the Taliban is now in thanks to the US’s complete defeat in Afghanistan - which, remember, the US could once easily invade using airbases inside Russia. That is now a thing of the past - the US is essentially now locked out of much of central Asia.
Invading Iran is going to be a far, far worse disaster for the US than Afghanistan and Iraq put together - and there is only so much defeat that the US can handle.
