Hey everyone. I’m looking for feedback on my videos. This is the best one I’ve done in a long time. I’d like to improve upon it though.

Do you have any feedback? Please feel free to nit-pick.

I’m also curious as to what kind of videos you’d rather see, like do you prefer SuperTuxKart, Minetest, Dink Smallwood, FreeDoom, or any other fully free software gameplay?

    Well, a greeting and a farewell wouldn’t hurt. 🙂
You start the video with “So, I watched…” and end it with “I’m gonna call it there”. Prepend that with “Hey guys” and end it with “Until next time!” (or whatever feels natural to you) and you make it seem a lot more friendly.

You also seem to assume that all your viewers watch all your videos. It wasn’t clear to me why you re-watched your previous video or why you’re playing with a controller (despite complaining about it), until later in the video.
You don’t have to re-tell the whole story in every video, but even just a half-sentence like “So, I still have to play with a controller…” can give at least the basic context. You did that better when mentioning the animal index, for example.

Such half-sentences also just give you something to say. Because yeah, you do still have relatively big talking pauses. That takes a lot of practice to ‘fix’, though.

Something easier, which you also mention in the video, is articulation. You do have a relatively monotonous voice. Again, takes a bit of practice, but just remembering every so often throughout the video will eventually make it much more natural.

You mention fullscreen not working, but yeah, would be nice. :P And you should zoom your cam more on your face. It has quite a bit of empty space around you, is off-center and you’re relatively small up in that corner.

Having said all that, I did find that video enjoyable.

As for games, I think, Minetest lends itself quite well for Let’s Plays, but I definitely enjoy some SuperTuxKart, too. Wasn’t aware of Dink Smallwood before, but sounds cool, too.
I like finding new games via such channels and see other peoples’ reactions to games that I know and love, so mixing in random FOSS games would be cool, too.
And of course, play whatever you find fun, first and foremost.

Thanks, there’s definitely a lot to consider. I hope my controller-complaining didn’t ruin anything for you. I’m glad that the video was still enjoyable.

Also, I’m glad to hear that you like variety in gameplay, as that’s what I try to bring to the table. All free culture stuff, though. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Thanks!

Nah, the controller complaining was no problem at all. I actually personally even have an interest in how well Minetest plays with a controller. You just didn’t mention trying it for fun or any other reason why you’re playing with a controller despite not enjoying it, until later in the video.

Free culture stuff is definitely my cup of tea, too. 🙂

By the way, a good tip is to map the directional buttons to number keys, so you can access stuff in the inventory bar easier. I also map the triggers to the scroll wheel, but it’s super finnicky, so the directional buttons help a lot.
