If it really does come to it, I hope Europe and Denmark hit back hard.

    Fuck I hate this timeline.

Reading what he actually said, it seems pretty excessive to call it “all but confirmed.”

What I don’t understand is why didn’t he just fucking lie? Not like there would be any consequences.

I’d suggest the EU opens up a military base there manned by soldiers from all EU counties. Greenland can the close the US military base there and maybe continue as an independent nation supported and protected by Europe

It seems wrong to upvote this post but people need to see it. During Trump’s bid for the 2024 election, the idea of invading Greenland (& taking over Panama’s canal) was considered political posturing, I’m pretty sure nobody voted for this bullshit.

You vote for a person. You can’t pick and choose subjects that person represents, it’s a package deal. People DID vote for this by voting for him and it’s time to not allow maga voters to weasel out of their responsibility for it. The “he doesn’t actually mean it literally” had been long disproven.

For what it’s worth, I am sure the US has war gamed how to invade every country on earth. There are a lot of generals that do not actually command troops, but are around in case the US did need to swell ranks there would be qualified people to command them. These generals spend a great deal of time coming up with ways to invade friends purely to keep sharp. Those plans don’t go anywhere because we’re allied with the people we’re doing the theory about.

Some time after WW2 (think in the 60s or 70s) it was exposed that the US had plans on how to attack Canada. The excuse then was if UK fell, and Germany invaded Canada, we’d have to fight them off. But the point is the coming up with novel scenarios helps you think of new ways to operate more efficiently.

While I am extremely concerned about the way this admin has been treating allies, esp Greenland/Denmark/Canada, the existence of plans is not surprising. Generals war game as work, doesn’t mean said generals are wanting to attack.
