Zeno, a startup aimed at markets in Africa and India, makes an electric bike that outperforms gas motorcycles and costs less—so customers don’t need a green incentive to buy them.
Ah man. This looks like it is likely the sort of electric motorcycle that I’d actually want. My favorite bikes have been in the 196cc (Yamaha TW200) to 649cc (Kawasaki KLR650) range and pretty no-frills. Most of them were even carbureted. The only change from what I see on their website that I’d want is a mechanical instrument cluster. It’s nice to be able to see what’s going on when the tank is empty.
Hopefully they release in other regions with similar price points. Having a nice electric dual-sport for fire roads that isn’t ridiculously expensive or heavy would be amazing.
Wow, low cost EV? What a concept.
Sounds like communism. /s
I want one!
It is one of those weird things that musk had said he’d never make an electric bike/motorcycle and honestly it could have been a pretty decent side project for tesla, I wonder if it’s just more of his public transport hate that made go that route
Yeah, micromobility is a huge market now. But I guess we should be happy he didn’t, because he’d probably try to add self driving and a touchscreen.
The Tesla Ironframe, too heavy to lift, has clip pedals that don’t let you free your foot unless the bike is on, tires are glued to wheels, which are glued to the frame, which is glued together. Helmet has half-visor tablet that blocks your right eye and is required to use signals, but it’s really cool
$12500 starting price
Tesla is putting all it’s eggs in the robot basket atm. So I guess he rather wants to ride a robot horse 👩🏽🌾
Totally different from Zero motorcycles
There is nothing wrong in trying to make a PEV a budget-friendly mode of transportation. Zero motorcycles are far from being affordable (for any market, but especially where Zeno is aiming).
Is anyone selling electric step through style bikes that billions of people in Asia ride every day?
You mean like Vespa style scooters? Electric versions are definitely out there but I’m not familiar with any of the reputable brands. NIU maybe?
