I suspect that if a Republican wins in 2028, that it will stay the Gulf of America. But if a Democrat wins, it will be more likely to change back. However, there is costs associated with the rename.

In the United States, official documents refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. He, obviously, doesn’t have the power to change it for the whole world, but does for the government of the United States.
I hate that he changed it, but at least it’s accurate. Gulf of “North” America. Not “The Gulf of United States”. Kinda cracks me up that he didn’t make the distinction.
Like when someone is asked where they are from, and all they say is “America” .
