Dogs have been bred for specific reasons for thousands of years. Bloodhounds were bred for tracking scents. Dachshunds were bred to hunt burrowing animals. Siberian Huskies were bred to pull sleds across long distances in freezing conditions. Jack Russell Terriers were bred to hunt foxes…… Pit Bulls were originally bred in the 19th century for blood sports like bull-baiting, and later, dog fighting. It is not their fault, but they are genetically bred to attack and maim, and/or kill. Sometimes for no reason. I don’t care how loving and calm their owners are—they are genetically bred to carry out a specific job.
