Dear @steam

Any PC game marked at $69 or above will be added to my ignore list regardless of the “quality” of the game

Enough is enough

      You can always tell mastodon users apart from their weird posting behavior.

    People pay full price for steam games?

    Like, you don’t have an abundance of games to play and cant wait a year, maybe two, to get it for atleast 50% off?

    Or is that just me and am I weird?

      Patient gamers unite!

      Also, who has time to waste waiting for a 90GB game to load and compile it’s shaders or whatever so you can enjoy the main character’s pimples in full anti aliased resolution when you can just double click some 20 year old game and be right in the thick of it in zero time? I play to have fun, I don’t need all this ultra realistic crap. Give me 5 minutes with some obscure indie game and I’m happy.

      Sometimes it’s fun to hop onto the hype train and experience a cultural moment, or get something that’s trending. Buying Helldivers 2 after 4 or more years when the sales get big enough won’t let you experience the cultural hit it was when it hit. I’m not saying you should always follow the herd, heck, the vast majority of the time I don’t, but sometimes it can be fun.

      Not just you. I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price for a Steam game. Some new games enamor me with their flashy graphics and fresh takes on formulas… but I don’t see the point in shelling out big bucks for a new game when I can play it 3 years from now for at least 50% off and have the same amount of enjoyment (Realistically, though, I’m just going to replay New Vegas for the 30th time and never touch the new game).

      Admittedly, it is nice to experience a game at the same time as the rest of society because then you’re part of the buzz and you get to discover new things with everyone else, but that experience isn’t worth $69.99 MSRP.

      @MadMonkey

      nope. it’s you.

      Sure. I can wait. And I usually do. Usually more than a year, waiting for corporate greed to become satiated

      That’s ok. It’s my choice and I’m good with it. But, that doesn’t prevent me from calling out the corporate-asshole-biters who milk every last penny of profit out of their tranquilized bovines before offering realistic pricing for the same crap everyone else is offering

    Put every game you want on your wishlist, make an account on https://isthereanydeal.com/ and link your Steam account, and receive a (configurable) e-mail when it’s on sale which also tells you how much it’s been on sale before. Never pay anywhere close to full price again. Except for the indie games that deserve it of course.

    🏴‍☠️ you don’t need to pay, and you get the game anyway.

    easiest boycott ever.
