The point of our retaliation is to hurt the US with as little impact to Canadian consumers and our economy as possible, and specific targeted actions like these work really well.

We don’t NEED US booze, there are plenty of Canadian and non-US options to replace it, and it’s a luxury item to start with. So it doesn’t really hurt consumers in Canada that much, but it directly harms American companies and jobs.
