r/Lemmy has a single moderator, u/MarcellusDrum.
r/RedditAlternatives has a few:
- u/ryan_II
- u/RedditWater7
- u/RedditLiquid8
- u/Madbrad200
- u/Dukkani
- u/Zakku_Rakusihi
Are any of them active on Lemmy? These subreddits are proving to be key spaces for onboarding new users to Lemmy. Might it be prudent to establish good relationships with these people?
None of them seem to be particularly active in the above communities. It would be nice if they could swap out some of the pinned threads, many of which contain outdated information.
Yeah I moderate /r/Lemmy. If you need anything, let me know. I’m more likely to read your message quickly if you sent me a message through Reddit (a PM, not chat, as I still use RiF).
RiF works still?
You can patch the old apps to use your own API key iirc. The API pricing only kicks in when there’s too many requests using the same key in a timeframe. Which is easily reached when you’ve got thousands of devices using the same key, but nearly impossible when people use their own key.
If you’re talking about us? We don’t have any terms with them.
I never checked r/lemmy so i can’t comment on it. r/RedditAlternatives community can seem against the fediverse and usually recommend obscure, proprietary alternatives such as Discuit? Weird. And they removed rimu’s post advertising piefed, so i wouldn’t say i’ll trust them immediately.
If you told me r/RedditAlternatives was operated by Reddit employees it wouldn’t completely shock me. But a more likely explanation for why there is no “Fedi consensus” there is that because Lemmy/Piefed is the best option, the people who try it out are more likely to actually leave Reddit.
In short, there are people trying to “make Discuit happen” because unlike Lemmy it’s well, not happening.
And they removed rimu’s post advertising piefed, so i wouldn’t say i’ll trust them immediately.
They did ? Crap
Yep. It was on 0 upvotes and a dude calling us “conservatives” based on the homepage (???) was highly upvoted too. They were questioning funding, but it shouldn’t be a problem if we aren’t twitter incarnate types of size.
They seem pretty against the idea of the fediverse.
If it was on zero upvotes, might it have been removed without human intervention?
It might be worth resubmitting the post and linking to it from Lemmy/Piefed to help promote it.
We actually did advertise it, and it took 7 hours to remove so it’s a safe bet to say it was manual. I think the reason why people hate fedi so much there, is because the people who want to be there already are, and people who dislike it still remain.

Not necessarily. It could have just taken 7 hours to dip below a positive vote score, triggering the automod.
We actually did advertise it
Was this recently? I don’t recall seeing it in the fedibridge community.

This is definitely problem, one that I hope this community can help to address!
I don’t actually exactly know how reddit works, iirc the post hit 0 upvotes like 40 mins in lol. But you may be right

Actually yes, just go a couple of days down and you’ll find a post about piefed being advertised on reddit.

Thanks, I hope so too! :D

Oh, was that the Virgin/Chad meme? For some reason, I can still see that thread on Reddit.
prob assume hosting costs more than it does, people pay like 50$ a month for a single static html site on proprietary builders, mfs out there pay 100$ a year for ssl renewals still
Never had any contact with them, good or bad.
They usually leave my posts promoting Lemmy
@[email protected] I guess ?
That’s me.
I’ve been on Reddit for 17 years, and I have no idea what’s going on.
In Willy terms, i would say…
