i have been trying to access articles of this website. i have tried ‘bypass paywall clean’ plugin and other solutions i could find (ublock zapper, 123ft like websites, CSS of the said webpage, publicly ‘free’ AI models).

I know the developer of this website. It’s hard paywall. You won’t be able to bypass it by modifying the elements in any sense.

As you mentioned in some other comments, only the currently archived ones will be available. If you are looking for just this specific article, let me know, I will archive and share the link here. If you are looking for a method to bypass it entirely, I don’t think it’s possible.

Also I assume you are not in a position to afford the subscription. It’s fairly decent considering the quality of articles. So whenever you can afford it, subscribe and support them. Nowadays good long form articles are non existent in Indian media.

you are right journalism like that is rare. it is expensive and i cant afford it as of now. when i can i will pay.

there isnt just one article there wil be many in future, given how investigative they are. that is why i was trying to find a temp solution for a while.

can you delve into technology used for such paywalls ? did the dev tell you anything? i would like to learn if there is anything beside JS and usual stuff i am seeing.

I just used Ublock origin. Right clicked the paywall and blocked “##div:nth-of-type(4)” and it let me see the full article

Huh strange mine now shows ##div:nth-of-type(5)

If you look below the text box there should be three options:

Pick: allows you to select a region

Preview: toggles the filter so you can see how it looks

Create: Sets the filter which is what you’ll need after you’ve selected ##div:nth-of-type(5)

        Hope that helps C: Alternatively read mode on Firefox gets past it too c;

the archived articles work. not all of them are archived especially new ones. sites like 12ft arent able to bypass.

I wasn’t able to get this article, unfortunately. I really tried. But you can get many free articles by this author that cover this topic here: https://muckrack.com/ashoka-mody/articles

And they’re more up to date. I’ve never really used this site tbh, but the links forward you to articles that don’t have paywalls, from the few I’ve tested.

Turn off JavaScript, it stops the banner from loading. This works for most of these sites.

This can be done per-site using uBlock Origin, as well:

    1. Click op UBO so it opens the pop up as shown below
    2. Click on the JavaScript button on the right, so a red cross appears over it as shown below
    3. Click on the reload-button that shows up above it.

screenshot of uBlock Origin with JavaScript turned off and the reload-icon visible

This works both on desktop browsers as well as on Firefox/Fennec on Android

What is the pricing model? I never got a nag screen just looking around.

Edit: It cuts off the bottom, I see it now.
