there are going to be places within the united states that are somewhat less at risk from fascist incursion, such as the pacific northwest/cascadian area, a good bit of california, and especially new england. if you can get to those spots for a while, you might be able to collect yourself and contact the neighboring country either to the north or south and actually coordinate your passage instead of just trying to walk across the border unannounced.
