16 deaths and over 30,000 incidents of out of control dogs. Something has to change. I’m not saying ban dogs, but could we not ensure that owners are trained and licensed?
Had a google to see what dog it was - couple of reports suggesting it was a “Bully XL” - STV https://news.stv.tv/north/family-devastated-after-much-loved-mum-killed-by-american-bulldog-in-aberdeen-home and I’m afraid the Sun https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/32210765/first-pic-of-mum-mauled-to-death-aberdeen/
Why am I not surprised
When my wife and I were students in Aberdeen she did her final year of primary teaching degree placement in Torry, which is one of the rougher parts of the city if you are not familiar with it (although it has a lot of competition). Anyway she’d get off the bus in the morning a street away from the entrance to the school and literally be chased down the road towards the school gates by large unleashed dogs with no owners in sight. It wasn’t a one-off either it happened every day. Not sure how the smaller primary school children were managing to outpace them.
Shitty owners are a problem and they need to be eradicated.
