I love the BBC, but their science reporting is awful.
The BBC does some good stuff, but their entire news division is pretty awful. It has a strong transphobic streak, a strong monarchist bias, and sides with committers of genocide.
Also, back around 2004–2010 when it was one of few options I would regularly watch, BBC World just seemed so far up its own arse. You’d spend almost as much time watching dramatic count downs or hearing really snobbish declarations of what the show is about as you would actual news. I’m doubtful that it’s changed much.
Their other reporting’s been pretty shit as well.
The hat with “norminal” takes the cake.
New word? Maybe for BBC.
I gave up on BBC “News” years ago after a host tried a dozen different ways to get an American to say something racist. BBC finally simply ended the interview, immediately asserted on-air that the guest had said the racist thing (he very specifically had not), and carried on. I was done at that point.
The BBC is basically how I learned to speak English, maybe I should return the favor.
