Man, makes me want someone to use this kind of tech for a new generation of ekranoplans. Think of it: using this stuff to get to hydroplaning velocity, and then kick in electric turbines/props/propfans to reach and cruise at ground-effect velocity, retracting the foils once they’re no longer providing any meaningful lift.
