Yesterday, Twitch suspended an account that belonged to streamer and famous YouTuber Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt after he made racist comments about the death of Palestinians in Gaza. Now, the YouTuber has responded to the temporary ban with a surprisingly clear-eyed assessment of the controversy and what led up to it.

“I don’t really want to mince words or, ‘oh I wasn’t justifying or promoting [the genocide],’” He said during a new 20-minute long video on the subject. “I said something about it that was disgusting.”

Did he really have a change of heart just because he got in trouble with Twitch? We know how he is. It’s pretty strange to see him walk back any statements after getting backlash. As far as I know he’s always been the unapologetic, uncancellable degenerate who lives with rats rotting on the floor and his own blood staining the walls.

Asmondgold is a co-founder of the media company One True King. Another co-founder is “TipsOut”, who is also a Muslim. He posted a very long message on Twitter about the hatred he and his family have dealt with simply because of their race and religion and called out Asmondgold for perpetuating that same hatred.

I don’t think he changed his mind because of Twitch. He changed his mind because his Muslim business partner sat him down and educated him.

He did debate with Hasan on stream for like 3 hours and I’m sure (assuming) he got a lot of texts from his business partners (one of whom I understand is Muslim) so maybe he really did take a hard look at himself.

I sure hope so because, man - what he said was ignorant AF.

There’s ignorance then there’s way beyond ignorance. It’s like if someone came to me and said all conservatives ready babies before going to bed, and if respond with “Ya, that obviously true.” What he was saying and advocating for is literally the most reviling and evil thing humanity does to fellow humans. Having to justify genicide is never acceptable and the backlash he received should be towards everyone supporting it, even in the smallest of ways. Biden, Trump, and anyone of power should have to see the faces of those harmed by their continued support of Isreal. I’m glad this nobody of the internet came around but let’s keep that same energy for those really doing the harm.

Streamers really do be instantly reversing years of their character development just by getting banned from an internet platform for a few weeks
