Automaker’s latest subscription model takes nickel-and-diming to new heights
oh this has to be a big joke. horns are a safety feature that is required by law to function. it would be technically a road hazard if it were to be disabled, and you wouldn’t pass a vehicle test in most states. I really hope this is satire.
edit - it is!
Give it five years.
Satire is useless in a world where people read this and think it’s a brilliant idea. This exact thing happened with gaming micro transactions where everyday common gameplay features and customisation turned into the pile of crap all, profits-above-all-else companies include. It would not surprise me that there’s a future where this happens to cars for ridiculous features like this.
If only The Onion came up with horse armor DLC, they very well might have nipped that shit in the bud.
Pay to save and exit game is actually coming, any day now
Next up, turn signals!
BMW would go bankrupt if they tried this.
The market for backwards-milage-monetization has yet to be tapped!
Ok nice job! It actually took me a while to be sure if this was satire or not. I was pretty close to believing it.
I’d be willing to bet this article is leaving out some critical information. Horn is a safety equipment. It’s not something you can lock behind a paywall. I’ve found no other information about this except for this article.
