Been seeing posts about #Snac2 and had a quick look. It looks very similar to #Mastodon but without the Java and so on. Are there really any benefits from using it as a server for Mastodon ?? Please do tell me why you’d use it instead or even why you wouldn’t as I’m generally interested ???

But the experience isn’t as complete or “polished” as with Mastodon.

@[email protected] unless I misunderstood what you asked, you don’t really use it “as a server for Mastodon”, you use it “as an alternative server for ActivityPub that is compatible with Mastodon and other Fediverse clients / servers”. Which means, it has its benefits (light, written in C, BSD oriented, etc) but also may have a few drawbacks; I can’t list them but think about missing features (compared to Mastodon) and/or compatibility issues with some other software.
