To debunk denialism of the Gaza death toll, all you need to do is point out that when we get them, the IDF casualty estimates very closely track with Gaza Health Ministry estimates. Since both of the opposing parties roughly agree on the death toll, it is likely a fairly accurate figure.

Israel are always saying that Hamas numbers are fake. Due to the collapse of the health system it’s impossible to have accurate numbers

Official source? I haven’t checked in a long time, but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen any official source call the Health Ministry numbers into question. Back when they were around 30k or so, it was largely agreed on by the IDF.

“The miraculous resurrection of the dead in Gaza,” Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote in a May 13 X post. “The @UN had reduced its estimate of women and children killed in Gaza by 50% and claims that it relied on data from the Hamas Ministry of Health. Anyone who relies on fake data from a terrorist organization in order to promote blood libels against Israel is antisemitic and supports terrorism.”

Another May 13 Instagram post said, “The UN quietly admitted the casualty numbers in Gaza were OVER INFLATED by nearly half.” https://www.politifact.com/article/2024/may/24/the-un-adjusted-its-gaza-fatality-reporting-heres/

Yeah, that’s just the ratios of age and sex for the casualties. He wasn’t denying the 35k (at the time) death toll.

In those two statements they never indicated that they are talking about non combattant death being inflated and what the UN meant was that they reduced the numbers because many death couldn’t be identified by names rather than that those people who was removed was omitted because they was rather combatants

Dude just sits there for 45 minutes making general comparisons and leaping to his own conclusions. Not a serious video.

Like because one other war has fewer civilian casualties, Israel is therefore targeting civilians in purpose. That conclusion doesn’t follow.

Dude doesn’t even mention martyrdom culture or Hamas doing things like spreading misinfo that the evacuation warnings, phone calls, and texts from the IDF were hoaxes. Makes no mention of why the civilian casualties are so much higher in Gaza as opposed to other conflicts.

Those other conflicts didn’t have Hamas building hundreds of miles of tunnels under every population center, didn’t have Hamas encouraging families to live above the tunnels to protect them. That’s why the civilian death toll in Gaza is so high.

There’s dozens of genocidal statements by israelis government knesset members and yet you have the audacity to blame all the civilians dead on Hamas only. Do you know that Russia use the same human shield excuse to target civilians?

Russia says that the Ukrainians dug 500 miles of tunnels in an area only 25 mi wide and used them for decades to launch terrorist attacks against Russia?

I haven’t heard that claim one time. I don’t think it’s true either.

Also haven’t seen those statements you’re talking about backed up. Israel certainly has the capability to annihilate all of Gaza in a matter of minutes. Here we are one year later, 99% of Gaza is still alive. What is it, the most incompetent genocide ever?

I didn’t mention tunnels, I mentioned human shields. Russia is using similar excuses as Israel. https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2022/4/3/why-we-need-to-challenge-russias-human-shields-narrative Don’t try to feel us you know really well the amalek reference by natanyaho and many other statements https://www.trtworld.com/middle-east/database-exposes-500-instances-of-israeli-incitement-to-genocide-in-gaza-16537146

Not only the number are underestimated due to the collapse of health system but genocide was never about killing the majority or all members of an ethnic group etc. Israel action fit at least two examples of action defining genocide which are causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group and deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part

Hamas actually uses human shields, though, and rewards people for war crimes, such as not wearing uniforms or kidnapping civilians.

Yeah a few Israeli soldiers have used human shields occasionally. It’s a crime in Israel and people in the IDF get charged for it.

Hamas does it as a matter of daily policy, with hundreds of thousands of people, voluntary and involuntary. What kind of bullshit whataboutism is this?

In the first days of the war, Hamas literally spread rumors online that the evacuation orders were a hoax and that everyone should stay in their houses, that nobody should leave North Gaza, or Gaza City.

So if Israel had any kind of military base near civilian areas, would that mean it’s using Israeli citizens as human shields?
