A man from West Yorkshire has been charged with stirring up racial hatred on social media in connection with the recent violent disorder across the UK.

Jordan Parlour, 28, of Seacroft, Leeds, is alleged to have made Facebook posts between 1 and 5 August with the intention of sparking tensions while demonstrations were taking place.

He is also alleged to have used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in the posts.

Nick Price, director of legal services for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
