The latter half of season 2 was exceedingly boring, and in particular the finale.
Go read the book. The entirety of seasons one and two take place in the course of about 40 pages. There’s a ton of story, and it’s probably more enjoyable than sitting through yet another scene of Daemon Targaryen brooding.
It’s more they couldn’t move the plot along due to budget but had to deliver 8 episodes of content. This was a filler season of revisiting the same topic over and over and over in case audiences didn’t understand the first time.
If you thought season 1 was boring then yes, this isn’t the show for you. Season 1 was excellent and had all the pieces I expected from a good Game of Thrones show.
Season 2 is similar to season 1, but it doesn’t have a landing. It’s not that it doesn’t stick the landing, it doesn’t have one. Season 3 should be excellent and maybe that’s the show you want, but I think the context from season 1 & 2 is what will make it exciting.
It’s even more boring because it’s 8 episodes of filler of them repeating the same scenario over and over again probably due to lack of budget. Basically the Hobbit movie in TV form where what could have been gotten across to the viewer in a few episodes is dragged out throughout the season, and they could have instead visited other families like Winterfel or Tully household if they needed needed talking scenes due to not have the budget to move the story along but needing to deliver 8 episodes of content.
Hold on which book? I thought it was a new story. I read the first 4 books of ASOIAF a long time ago but never got to A Dance with Dragons, is it in there?
It’s a prequel to Game of Thrones and details the rise of the Targaryen dynasty and some of the history of Westeros. Also, unlike GoT, it has a lot of fantastic illustrations too.
It’s different from GoT in that it’s written as a history book, parts of which told through various maesters and parts told through a fool who served the Targaryens by the name of Mushroom.
Fire and Blood and is a separate companion piece to ASOIAF covering the history of the Targeryon family. It’s a complete book so provides good closure to the series.

Honestly, season two had so much Daemon brooding that it felt like they didn’t know what they wanted to do with his character

Right?!
And the thing is, so much cool stuff is happening in the book at that time, there was no need to focus on his boring-ass time at Harrenhal.
Yeah but he’s Matt Smith and top billed so he has to have screentime. (I think? I don’t actually watch it.)
That’s the only excuse I can think of for it too. The problem is they didn’t write up much for him to work with.
So if I thought the entirety of season 1 was boring, I’m definitely going to hate season 2?

I think Season 2’s pretty good through Episode 4. It was the last four episodes that, to me, were uneventful and a tad boring.

I LOVE it.
Oh I was totally not up to date lol, thank you. Love me some fantasy illustrations, I might check it out

Rhaenyra is just a small portion of the story.
Oh interesting, thank you!
