Its going to be a Bloober game. Mid at best, with an inconsistet framerate, and there will be changes to the narrative, whether obvious or subtle through voice acting that will show they entirely missed the point of the original.

They’ve shown so many changes that it makes me think why they didn’t just make an entirely new game? It plays nothing like the original, looks only kinda like the original (except Angela doesn’t, and neither does Maria, Laura does a little bit I guess, but they haven’t even shown Eddie a single time and that has me worried), like, just make something new? The original was literally almost perfect. Yes, it had bugs, yes there were minor QoL things that could have changed, but Bloober has shown a lot of completely unnecessary changes.

This remake is trying to replace the original. Yes, you can buy literally the worst version of the original with the HD ports, or you can pirate the game or buy used copies for prices that I would call theft, but Konami and Bloober are purporting that the remake, for all intents and purposes, is designed to replace the original.

It won’t. It can’t. It will not be better.

I want Silent Hill to succeed, I really do. But to the people thinking Bloober can somehow do it better than the original team: No, they can’t. The closest they can even get to the original is equal, and from what they’ve shown it won’t be equal. This looks like its going to be Silent Hill Homecoming 2. I can’t believe I am saying this but Gans’ movie looks more faithful to the original than the remake.

Bloober of all teams remaking this was a mistake. The SH fan in me on one hand wants this yo be successful and make money so we get more Silent Hill, but the other part wants this to fail because this isn’t the Silent Hill I want to be seeing for the next 20 years after the normies eat up the slop like they eat up nearly everything these days.

Right. For a lot of people, it will be their first time playing Silent Hill 2. The remake will be what they think of the game. There’s so much riding on this. SH2 is a cult classic and to be honest, I think it will be impossible to meet expectations.

Its not impossible to meet expectations. The problem is all these new people coming in wanting to add their own mark to the game. I don’t want any of that. I would prefer the Metroid Prime Remastered treatment, but because Konami lost the final version of the SH2 source code, we cannot have that. We have to get a remake.

And fine, if the new people want to add their own mark, I am happy to try that out as a separate mode. But try to make a very faithful recreation 1:1 first. This way the original can be preserved in as close to possible its original way with improved graphics, lighting, fidelity, and minor QoL changes such as bugfixes or faster load times.

I wish the game.was more faithful to the original, and that Bloober wasn’t behind it. As it stands, it will not hold a candle to the original, where it easily could have if they did it properly.
