    Depends on the one. Less likely with anything produced post-2000 but it’s a fun little opportunity to ruin your older model’s transmission.

      Even into the 2010s most automatics (at least economy cars) have a cable driven shifter so you can go into park at speed. The pawl won’t engage inmediately but it’ll make an infernal racket and will definitely run the chance of damage.
