Wrestling fans have hit out at “extortionate” ticket prices for WWE’s first ever Scottish pay-per-view show, Clash at the Castle.
The “premium live event” comes to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro venue on 15 June.
The cheapest tickets cost £300, with premium tickets more than £2,000.
…
A WWE spokesperson told BBC Scotland News that some tickets had been on sale at lower price point across two nights at the venue.
However, they declined to give details of how many of these tickets were available or how many had sold.
Journalist Ross Brady, who has followed WWE to events in London, Cardiff and New Orleans, said he was not able to find a ticket for less than £300.
He said: "The first prices that went up were for combo tickets of around £330, so I waited for the event on the Saturday and it was £303.50 for just the single ticket.
300 for the Hydro?! Jesus fucking christ.
- eliminate icw
- eliminate uk promotions
- ???
- profit
Ticketmaster at it again.
It’s the same thing they did with the UFC Business model, as they got more popular their tickets went insane. Now they are doing the same with WWE, which I guess we shouldn’t be surprised as it’s the WWE executives being shown the doors.
In fairness, the late Attitude Era prices were crazy high, for decent seats in Greensboro it was almost an entire month’s worth of afterschool jobs at the 5.15 minimum wage. So it could just be capitalism.
*converts to local currency to ensure outrage is at appropriate level*
…OH FUCK OFF LMAO
$512 CAD for the cheapest seats. For that kinda money A few TKO board members better be servicing me through the whole show and I don’t mean bringing me stuff from the food stand.
Yeah… $375US for a “cheap” seat is fucking robbery.
Also, our dollars need to be better friends. Math is hard.
Tap for spoiler
My stupid ass actually tried to do the math before recalling I could just put it in the Google machine. Facepalm.jpg
Granted, I haven’t looked into how much it would cost to go to a show here in the states, but after converting to dollars, that’s about what I would expect to see. Is that a lot higher than normal?
Depends on the show, but overall yes. For comparison:
WWE SummerSlam this August, lowest priced ticket available as of this comment: $200 USD/₤159 GBP
Regular every day show (in this case a Raw next week), lowest priced ticket available as of this comment: $20 USD/₤16 GBP
I genuinely expected prices to be absolutely bonkers regardless of the importance of the show. Thanks for the info.
The trick in North America is to keep anything that can placate the masses lower priced, that way they can fuck our arseholes raw on the prices of actual necessities! lmao.
