The amount of troops it generates is relatively low compared to the other continents and it has only one way to attack. RISK rules favour attackers, so aggressively expanding in multiple directions is the best strategy!
Risk is just a 30 minute fight for Australia and then 6 hours of waiting for the winner of that fight to win the game.
