Maybe with the advance of AI, the engineers at Apple can finally push the boundaries of technology enough to be able to achieve that

The iPad doesn’t have a calculator app? Really?

        I’m surprised it still doesn’t.

Don’t get your hopes up! We thought the DMA would finally bring us proper side loading (worldwide) and it didn’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

Are you one of the few people that didn’t already buy PCalc? Or if you don’t want to spend money, there’s Free42.

I’m one of those people that has PCalc, but likes the shortcut in my control centre. If I could put any app in my control centre, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Shortcuts → Automation → When App is opened → set it to Calculator, Run Immediately

Then in the actual shortcut find “Open App” and set it to whatever you want to open, e.g. PCalc.

Just tested it. You’ll briefly see the normal Calculator app, but then it will open PCalc on top of it. Even when opened from the Control Centre.

There’s an issue with your logic. “When App is opened”. When the iPad calculator app is opened?…

Where’s your imagination? You can use other Control Centre items, e.g. Magnifier. You just have to live with the non-calculator icon on the button.
