Soo, anyone got any game recommendations? Lemmy already has so few comments and social interaction (the only reason I visit sites like these) so why dilute it even further by focusing on pointless stuff? I swear every time I see a good post and am excited to see what people have to say about it it’s 90 percent pointless arguing in the comments.

Although I suppose I just contributed to it as well, so carry on I guess.

Highly recommend Inscryption. It’s a fantasy-mystery-horror deck builder that turns into a surreal, recursive, experience. It’s a masterpiece.

I can not agree more on Inscryption it is a phenomenal game. Additionally, I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that Daniel Mullins games have released thus far. They all have that same dark tone that really resonates with me, despite all being wildly different kinds of game.

Lovecraft was a racist, homophobic, sexist fuck.

    Tone deaf much, Valve?

Yesss, downvote facts. Good job, children.

Edit: keep it up, kiddos. Your whingy clamor is typical, but still somewhat entertaining.

I always find folks that can’t separate the art from the artist to be missing out. every human is pretty shitty in some way but that doesn’t detract from the great art they create.

Well, it certainly can. But I think the concern here is completely misplaced since we’re not even talking about Lovecraft’s work, but works based on the ideas he created. So the only association is a genre, so that’s a pretty weak criticism…

Having read some of his works, it sometimes is scarring to read how he pictures arabic or black peope.

He definitely let his personal racism seep into his stories.
So I think the argument can be made, that one shouldn’t just consume his works without critically reflecting on the author.

There is one story set in Egypt that I remember, where the open racism kept on breaking my immersion repeatedly.

But I agree that calling Valve tone deaf for highlighting lovecraftian games misses the spot.
Lovecraftian art is inspired by the tone and the mystery of Lovecrafts works and not of his racism.

But that aside I didn’t downvote you for your first sentence.
I personally wouldn’t even have downvoted you for your second sentence, even though I strongly disagree with it.

I downvoted you for your edit, which ironically is totally tone deaf.
Noone downvoted the fact, that you called the dude some stuff. You got downvoted for attacking Valve over an innocent sale of supernatural mystery games.

I love Harry Potter despite the fact that it’s creator is a bigoted narcissist.

I love the Beatles’ music despite the fact that John Lennon was a horrible person who beat his family.

Learn the phrase “death of the author” my dude.

I wish all the things I enjoy didn’t come from flawed people. But, sadly humans are trash and to idolize a person ignoring that fact leads to eventual disappointment.

If you ever do anything important, 100 years from now people might judge you as you are now.

But they won’t, you’ll be forgotten.
