It’s easy to roll one’s eyes as the self-serving dramatics of MAGA voters using false claims of victimhood as cover for their ugly views. But, as the threatening language in Greene’s tweet shows, this “woe is us” act is deeply dangerous. The hyperbolic conspiracy theories and dehumanizing language serve to convince Republican voters that religious liberty and democracy are simply values they can no longer afford to hold. The message is Christians are so “under siege” that the only way to fight back is by stripping everyone else of basic rights.
Wouldn’t that just be justifying what they’ve been saying and fear mongering for all along?
If they’re gone the problem stops perpetuating though. Joe Trumpie in his rusted out junker isn’t perpetuating it in a vacuum, he’s doing it because he’s too stupid to think for himself. Remove the influencing factor that’s causing him to actively be an asshole and he turns back in to the annoying guy nobody likes but is otherwise harmless because he’s dumb as a post.
They’ve been saying it because it’s something they’re actually afraid of. Because it would work.
But they’re not gone.
They’re in jail, under our tax dollars, with other violent criminals (some of which are even more extreme versions of Joe Trumpie)
This is carpet sweeping, and doesn’t solve any root issues in my opinion.
I think this would make things substantially worse
Edit: I just reread what you said and you’re actually just trying to slyly imply killing these people is an acceptable answer to the problem. We’re all done now and I’ve blocked you, don’t bother responding.
I’m not cool w/ people who vouch for murder, no matter who’s fucking ideals they subscribe to good or bad.
If you’re describing murder, then… I can’t be onboard, once you start killing anyone who isn’t “On board”, you’re a fascist just like them.
