CD Projekt’s chief financial officer, Piotr Nielubowicz, says the company does “not see a place for microtransactions in the case of single-player games”.
Talking to Polish site StockWatch.pl (via Insider Gaming and JuiceHead), Nielubowicz reiterated the studio’s position on in-game monetisation, albeit acknowledging that the team couldn’t “rule out that [CD Projekt] will use this solution in the future” when it came to multiplayer games.
“We do not see a place for microtransactions in the case of single-player games,” Nielubowicz said, according to Twitterer JuiceHead. “But we do not rule out that we will use this solution in the future in the case of multiplayer projects.”
Let’s see if they hold too this.
So this is the part where the executives say the stuff they don’t want to so they can save their company reputation?
I don’t think their reputation is that bad at the moment, is it? I thought they recovered from their Cyberpunk fopaux?
Not bad, they at least made up for it, but we will remember and next time like with Witcher 4, most that would have won’t preorder this time and might wait to make sure everything is fine before buying. Still believe they will make an awesome game but no more blind love
They kinda fixed their game but still overprimised just in time for a 30 dollar dlc. What a bunch if good guys.
They released it early to cash in for the Xmas season and to double dip with the transition from one generation console to the next gen.
So yeah they chose money and was willing to sell their spectacular reputation. Hope they learned their lesson but hope more consumers learned theirs.
Based opinion. Respect.
i don’t have a lot of money
but a job i stopped working at over a decade ago left me a retirement account at Fidelity, and I can use it to buy stocks.
And despite the fact that CD Projekt doesn’t ‘perform well’ on the markets, THIS is why I own some shares.
I believe in their ethics.
I believe in their ethics.
Didn’t they push tons of crunch on their employees for CDPR then release it way too early burning their customers as well?

Game might not be as bad now, but their ethics and business practices were on full display recently. They’re one of the few games to actually be pulled from PlayStation Store due to quality issues.
CDPR is scummy just like any other studio. Gamers really need to stop falling for blatant PR.
Not even Roach armor?
Microtransactions? No way!
Releasing a massively hyped game in an almost unplayable state? Sure why not.
