As reported by Eurogamer at GDC (Game Developer's Conference), during the Game Developers Choice Awards where Baldur’s Gate 3 won Game of the Year, Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke had some strong words to say about the games industry.
It’s nice to not be on the hype train for every major game release, because ultimately they will have the same shitfuckery shoed in, likely because of publishers. BG3 was a genuinely fun game and I’m glad Larian has done so well. You can really see a difference in games when it’s made from passion rather than the drive to make as much money as possible.
This is one thing I have noticed. Gamers salivate so heavily over every little thing and jump on the bandwagon in such numbers that developers don’t need to do too much to earn money. If people were more selective, the whole landscape would appear.
