🏆 Oh suh-NAP! (He should have said, “Mr. President…SIR, with tears in his eyes…” for bonus mockage)
Via Kyle Griffin:
President #Biden, speaking at a Texas fundraiser: “Just the other day, this defeated looking man came up to me and said: ‘Mr. President I need your help. I’m in crushing debt. I’m completely wiped out.’ I had to say, ‘Donald, I can’t help you’.” #Trump
@GottaLaff
This isn’t a personal grudge match - it’s a struggle for the fate of democracy, FFS.
Biden should keep his eye on the ball on the campaign trail (which, until now, he has admirably done). There will be plenty of opportunity for personal schadenfreude in private.
People want to hear him address THEIR concerns.
Given the immense stakes, publicly indulging in this personal crap is self-indulgent.
Did FDR ever publicly gloat? (No.) Good rule when fighting fascists: do what FDR did.
@CassandraZeroCovid @GottaLaff Unfortunately I think there is value in mockery. Trump’s entire power structure comes from his ability to be seen as striking fear and anger into the hearts of his opponents. If Trump is belittled by Biden or others that takes away his aura of invincibility.
Taking Trump seriously all the time does not work well because it just means repeating and debunking his nonsense which he spews faster than it can be refuted.
@[email protected] Agree.
Plus Trump himself IS a thread:
Incites violence.
National security.
Plus, Biden is addressing all those other things, AND engaging in a way that makes him relatable, sharp, and gets under Trump’s skin, which makes Trump even more vulnerable.
