It feels like the Toronto Maple Leafs have lost games, or leads, late in regulation a lot this season, hasn’t it?

. . .

Turns out, it has happened a lot — nine times in 66 games by my count. Nine times, that is, that the Leafs have given up the game-tying and/or go-ahead goal in the last five minutes of regulation.

The Leafs went on to win only three of those nine games. They lost five in regulation, which meant points squandered entirely, and one more, that last game against the Carolina Hurricanes, in a shootout.

It’s a troubling list.
