Despite playing in the midfield he played very well. It gave me confidence in us using Kai or ESR in the old Xhaka role against weaker teams who will park the bus.
Mudryk is weird one. I never watched him in the CL for Shaktar, so my only opinion of him is in a Chelsea jersey, which over the years has been a nightmare for quite a few talented attacking players. I’m really torn cause I can’t tell if he is bad or if everyone at Chelsea is just playing bad.
Don’t get me wrong, he has his moments of brilliance and I can see why we would have pursued him, just not for anything over 30m.
Given the lineup I’m not surprised we are having issues in the midfield, but otherwise we look good overall, just a little rusty.

Very lightweight.
Trossard did well though.

Agreed, time to step it up.
Trossard was an excellent signing after the Mudryk bullet was dodged.
It’s still concerning how hard they were pursuing him…

We bid too high and showed poor judgement, at least to that degree.
A mixed bag when it comes to transfers.
agreed - I was swept up in the pursuit of him but in retrospect I’m glad we didn’t end up with him.
I hope I still feel like that in 5 years. Or maybe we get him on clearance in 3 years.
