i disagree with therealjcdenton but you’re missing the point.
they’re saying that 196 “infected” the previously good other communities on Lemmy, so them blocking 196 itself doesn’t do much, and they’re losing out on content if they block the"infected" communities as well.
This is a natural downside of the fediverse. I’m sure there are hexbear folks who just made a new account somewhere and are in all our feeds again. Nothing to do about that
Reddit and similar had the same issue but in general account hopping was less normal
I hated 196 on reddit and its shit luck they infected lemmy
you can block communities

what kind of infection are we talking about? shitposts? are there a lot of shitposts outside of 196 and lemmyshitpost? i haven’t noticed
yeah that’s why i said i disagreed
Might be a dumb question, but what’s supposed to be wrong with 196 and its users??

at least they now can’t identify each other and troll the rest of us as easily anymore
In the beginning after the blackout, 196 was one of the biggest Lemmy communities. It definitely helped driving the switch
Its disappointing that out of all the subreddits 196 was the one to move
