I beg to differ. I think it added a nice mix of dark truth to the series. You never really see the low-key social messed up stuff in the trek world so this was like yeah… they’d probably have orgasm inducing games in the future where everyone gets all addicted lol. And making it a virus spreading method really adds to the overall seriousness of it
I’m gathering that this image is referencing star trek but I haven’t watched a lot of it. Which particular episode is this, what you’re talking about sounds interesting.
the unrealistic part is how it isn’t the C/D plot of every episode… always some new game people are getting roped into. usually not sinister, but sometimes it is.
I admire the sentiment behind the episode, too. I just think they didn’t exactly pull it off very well. Some (much?) of the acting is fairly cringe worthy.
And if I want dark TNG, Conspiracy is hard to top.
Haha! I watched this episode the other day. Not one of Trek’s brighter moments.

Ah def check it out. It’s this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation)?wprov=sfti1
I don’t know why my link isn’t working but it’s season 5, episode 6.
I always assumed this was an early season episode… Wow. I like the episode but it certainly feels like a season 1 episode to me.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to do a double take at season 5. I figured it was around season 3.
Thanks 👍
