Long story short; I was diagnosed and put on methylphenidate for a year. Due to high blood pressure, was taken off medication while they reviewed the situation.
Since then, I’m getting bounced between my doctor, private practices and the local mental health team; I’ve been off the meds for about two months and my entire life is collapsing around me…
I’m under so much stress from work, my house is a shithole, I’ve gained so much weight and my mental health has nosedived.
I was told I should go on non stimulant medication, but still nowhere close to starting that process and none of the places I mentioned wants to take responsibility.
I’m so close to quitting my job, if I wasn’t chained down by a mortgage I think I’d have run away from this situation and life a long time ago.
What am I even supposed to do??
Just remember you are strong for sloughing through all that day in and day out! It’s very impressive!
Wild they put you on ritalin first. I don’t know much about the chemistry but would trying a low dose of lisdexamphetamine maybe not be helpful, and less stressful on your heart?
Assuming you’re in England/Wales, can you contact ADHD UK for any help in advocating with your health board? Or any local networks?
