      The “Genocide Convention” defined it as “A crime committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, in whole or in part.” This excludes political groups.

      So yes, many things more than simply killing counts as genocides. What slave owners in the US did to separate families and squash the previous culture of said slaves counts. Canada’s resident schools that tried to make indigenous people more like “normal” Canadians counts. Re-education camps count. What Israel is doing to Palestine counts, and the treatment of the Uyghur people also counts, among numerous other examples I didn’t mention, including very obvious ones.

        Yeah like is the New York Times in the room with us right now? God forbid the US officials/media are hypocrites, anything but hypocrisy! Just an excuse to not engage with the article.
