Is it frowned upon to do community goals offline? I tried doing it only and got smoked by a pirate in like 10 seconds. Not upset or anything, piracy is fair game, and it was exciting for the 10 seconds I was alive, but if I actually want to contribute, should I be offline?

IMO if you want to engage in PvP you have the option to play in open. No one will know if you take part solo.

Ok thanks. Yeah, I’m not a great combat pilot, (ranked novice, and yeah, thats about right lol) but i like running into other players randomly. Feels immersive, idk.

Solo play is still online play so you’re still contributing the same as anyone else. I’ve done community goals in private group/solo before and never had a problem. I rarely play in open and the only people who are bothered by this seem to be the same people I’m trying to avoid via solo/private in the first place.

    Solo mode isn’t offline.

Few will frown on you, as you’re not affecting anyone if you do. (More people will frown on actively doing power play in solo)

As an alternative, you could build your ship to be a bit sturdier, so you can live long enough to escape to another system.

But last time I did that, in my extremely shielded trading cutter, I kept getting pulled by the same person, even after I demonstrated I easily got away and they couldn’t dent my shields. So you still might not get anything done.
