My coworker is massive Apple fanboy who gets the newest phone every year.

He goes through this exact process after a few days:

    1. Talks about how much faster the newest phone is

    2. Shows comparisons of photos or screen resolution

    3. Says it’s expensive but the trade-in means he saves $x so really he only paid like 75% market price

    4. Talks about all the gadgets it connects to.

    5. Complains about how his prior phone did one thing he liked

    6. Complains about if it’s worth the price

    7. Stops talking about it after multiple people point out feature x, y, z exists on other devices

    8. Gets excited about Apple World or whatever that conference is and prepares himself to buy the newest phone

Yeah, because they always just compare the new one with the old iPhone, not with competitors. “The best <insert random feature> in an iPhone ever!” Well, no shit, the new one isn’t worse than the old one, gz!

And don’t forget to invent crazy marketing names to hide tech specs (“Retina display” which wasn’t even 1080p etc).

        Slightly no headphone jack

Don’t let them fool you. It’s there, just covered by plastic for the extra Fuck You.

what is a “normal phone” to you, apple has over 50% marketshare in both the US and UK. iphones are, by definition, “normal phones”.

the days of iphones being the expensive/overpriced option are over, with 1200+ android flagships being common

Comparing a companies budget phone to another companies newer halo phone is just an unreasonable comparision. The iPhone 15 pro also has many features that the pixel doesn’t.

For 429 dollars you could get an Apple refurbished iphone 12 mini (so same warranties and stuff as a new phone), which has a more powerful cpu, higher storage options if wanted, a brighter display, face id, etc. Obviously, you also lose features. But the reality is, its not some simple one side is good value and the other is overpriced garbage.

oem authorized repair also applies to apple, and with almost all the same caveats

It isn’t if the halo phone sucks. Like, if the Pixel 7A - Google’s budget phone, crushes the latest iPhone, imagine what the flagship Google Pixel 8 Pro does to it…
