Alabama has put to death Kenneth Smith, the first death row inmate known to die by nitrogen gas, marking the emergence of a wholly new method of execution in the United States.

I am personally against the death penalty but I do find it strange how many debate over if it will be ‘painful’ or ‘cruel’. You are executing a person. It’s not going to be pleasant.

    Why don’t they use the suicide drug of choice for the plebs and chronically poor - fentanyl?

      It has been debated. Many people feel it would be cruel. I don’t. It should be fairly peaceful unless they have some strange intolerance to it.

      I would rather see the death penalty removed. I feel it is an old outdated practice and occasionally we get the wrong person. It isn’t justice. It is vengeance.
