Because of the cold front rolling in, I decided to pull all of the tomatoes on my last producing plant. This thing started pumping out little juice-popping 'maters around June and never stopped. Hundreds and hundreds of spheres of deliciousness.
Dearest plant, if you don’t survive the chill, thank you for your service.
I hope it survives! Are you covering it?
Yup. Fingers crossed for all my plant babies.
Would it be worth attempting to salvage some seeds to replant next year? they do look cool too !!
Way ahead of ya! Have around 100 or so already dried out. Decided to do the fermentation about a month ago and we plan on planting a couple this next year and will probably give away some seedlings to friends.
The tomatoes start green, the tops turn black and then they turn deep red once they are ripe. Kinda wished they stayed black and red, but they are really bitter until they get red.
Great ! Hopefully you will find some black tomatoes at some point 🤞
Cherokee Purples are a big time fave. Grow them too, but they weren’t as productive this year. They also aren’t really black but they are a nice shade of purple that tends to “grey” when they get ripe and juicy. By far my favorite tomato for a tomato sandwich.
