My wife and I recently took a trip to Tasmania and spent most of our trip doing amazing, beginner friendly hiking trails and looking at amazing scenery.
Now that we’re home - I really want to try some of the trails around Brisbane.
While there is lots of articles and sites that talk about beginner friendly trails around Brisbane - I’d like to find some community recommended favourites for where we can start in the greater Brisbane area. Recommendations?
This site is a great place to start: aussiebushwalking.com
Here is the link to their sections on the Brisbane Forest park D’Aguilar National Park, which has some great walks.
Each trail listed has photos and an elevation map.
Here is a good breakdown of the Trails on Mount Coot-tha: Best Trails in Mount Coot-tha Reserve from another good walking info site.
Thanks for this - some of those D’Aguilar walks look great.
Mt Gravatt / Toohey Forest is a quick, beginner friendly option if you’re local.
mt ngungun in the glass house mountains is a great beginner walk. It’s short but rewarding.
This track looks amazing as well. Adding it to my list.
my favourite hike.
I am a bit of a bigger person and it’s enjoyable. it’s tough, but if you pace it right it’s fine and the pay off is well worth it
stay away from mount coolum, it’s deceptively tough and honestly I don’t think it’s that great
Have a look at the AllTrails app or website . It’s great, and trends to have community recommendations.
I often just go to to the top of Mt glorious for a weekend walk, a really lovely walk is the rainforest loop from the Maiala day-use area
here’s a page that has a map of that area and others. try the hike just over the road to the western window too, also very pretty and easy going. https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/daguilar/maps-resources
The rainforest loop is exactly what I’m looking for. I might try this next weekend. Thanks.
no worries, hope you enjoy it
White Rock near Ipswich is pretty easy.
There’s a few around Springbrook of varying lengths including one through Natural Bridge that is quite pretty.
