Definitely the smart way to go about it. For me, I’m playing on Xbox using the standard controller and the Modern controls are great but I really wanted to learn Classic.
With a controller, for classic, the issue is not the atk buttons, it’s the dpad. You can easily use shoulder buttons for HP/HK. You need to find a dpad you are comfortable doing motion inputs on. All work mostly fine. Just find the one you like.
