I quite purposefully started using Lemmy to further escape the necrotizing tendrils of modern social platforms. It’s a shame that it feels like a flash in the pan, before they sink their teeth in. And what’s more confusing is there seems to be a popular concensus to let them. From people who have seen what happens time and time again when big corporations assimilate and then pervert useful technology.
A lot of those who are for this type of stuff are the ones who dont get how these companies make their money. Your life becomes something they can sell to others and you sign up for it.
But hey its totally worth it if Taylor Swift bumps your tweet, right? /s
